SUMMARY

As you may be aware, members of the Traffic Calming Committee have been working with Dianne Saxe's office to address the traffic issues within the neighbourhood, including the excessive cut-through traffic on Barton Ave.  Andrew Greene (Dianne's chief of staff) has come up with a proposal to help address THIS longstanding issue.  It involves making Barton Ave from Clinton to Christie St 1-way westbound. Because the change would only cover 1 block of Barton, and would not require a traffic study (which we are unable to obtain).   Councilor Saxe's office would like to prepare a motion to be presented to the Toronto and East York Community Council  Meeting 24,  July 8, 2025, 9:30 AM.

BACKGROUND:

We believe that with the Mirvish Village influx, proposed TTC changes to Bathurst, the tower at Barton and Bathurst, and all of the other developments along Christie and Dupont, the pressure for cut-through traffic is about to get worse.  For these reasons, both Dianne's staff and the traffic calming committee agree about the importance of acting on this now.
