SVRA Events Draw Crowds
Our neighborhood is alive with excitement, hosting a diverse array of events throughout the year, many in Vermont Square park. From lively street festivals and farmers' markets to seasonal parades and community picnics, there's always something happening. Each event brings residents together, fostering a sense of community and fun. Join us for music, food, and festivities that celebrate the unique spirit of Seaton Village,.
General meetings for SVRA members and prospective members are held in the evening a few times a year in various locations,. Watch this page for details. Notices are usually emailed to members as well, so you can plan in advance to attend. Volunteers are always needed to help at SVRA events, often to hold doors open and arrange seating. Come a bit early; stay a bit late. See the event details on this page.
Information about SVRA-based projects, planning and City proposals can be found under Initiatives, and can often use volunteer help, as can Committees listed on that page of this website.

SUMMARY
A number of residents in Seaton Village community expressed concern that the City had not provided adequate opportunities for consultation regarding the recently announced RapidTO Bathurst plan. There was also a vocal public outcry by a number of businesses in the area. In response, our City Councillor, Dianne Saxe, recommended some alterations to the original plan that she submitted at the SVRA AGM on June 10.
The City has since substantially revised its original proposal, removing the plan for dedicated bus lanes north of Bathurst subway station, and City Council will be discussing it July 23, 24, 25. See also City Initiatives
June 24 SVRA Members: Barton Block One-way West
When: Tuesday, June 24, 7:00 to 8:30 pm.
Meeting will be online. Zoom link will be sent out to SVRA members prior to meeting.
SUMMARY
As you may be aware, members of the Traffic Calming Committee have been working with Dianne Saxe's office to address the traffic issues within the neighbourhood, including the excessive cut-through traffic on Barton Ave. Andrew Greene (Dianne's chief of staff) has come up with a proposal to help address THIS longstanding issue. It involves making Barton Ave from Clinton to Christie St 1-way westbound. Because the change would only cover 1 block of Barton, and would not require a traffic study (which we are unable to obtain). Councilor Saxe's office would like to prepare a motion to be presented to the Toronto and East York Community Council Meeting 24, July 8, 2025, 9:30 AM.

BACKGROUND
We believe that with the Mirvish Village influx, proposed TTC changes to Bathurst, the tower at Barton and Bathurst, and all of the other developments along Christie and Dupont, the pressure for cut-through traffic is about to get worse. For these reasons, both Dianne's staff and the traffic calming committee agree about the importance of acting on this now.
