Kindly note that this month's townhall will begin and end 30 minutes later than usual, from 7:30 PM to 8:30 PM tomorrow, September 18th. If you have already registered, there is no need to register again. Click on the link provided to register and submit a question.

PLUS... We want to hear from you! Join City Planning at their upcoming community consultation meeting and help steer the conversation on City Planning’s review of the zoning regulations for parking commercial vehicles in Residential and Residential Apartment Zones.

Commercial vehicles are a familiar sight on Toronto's streets and highways. They include the buses that transport residents all over the city, the delivery trucks that deliver goods, and the full-size cargo vans supporting various services and trades.

The current rules only permit a commercial vehicle owned or operated by an owner or tenant in a residential zone to be parked and stored in an enclosed building (e.g. in an attached or detached garage). As part of the study, City Planning is considering changing, clarifying, and enhancing the zoning rules to:

  • establish a clear definition for commercial vehicles;

  • consider permitting certain types of commercial vehicles to park outside of an enclosed building (e.g. on a driveway); and,

  • extend the permissions to other already-permitted uses (e.g., garden suites and laneway suites).
